PMAT addresses the data management needs of the Red Database Manager (RDBM) position in the Supplemental Plot (SUPPLOT) onboard large Navy platforms like CVNs and DDGs. SUPPLOT’s primary focus is Indications & Warnings (I&W) meaning Situational Awareness (SA) of all entities in a given area of interest (typically around a Carrier Strike Group) and an assessment of each entity’s threat potential and degree of hostile intent. Whereas most spaces onboard vessels (even large vessels) only have access to GENSER SECRET networks and information, SUPPLOT has access to SCI networks and the higher fidelity and higher granularity data created and stored there. The data set available from SCI systems is voluminous so automated methods are needed to notify intelligence analysts in SUPPLOT of data events such as causations and correlations based on entity attributes, observed behavioral patterns, and deviations from historically observed behavioral patterns. This effort automates those methods against a broader and deeper data set than a human analyst is capable of examining manually or in a timely manner and is currently integrated as part of the Distributed Common Ground System – Navy (DCGS-N) Increment 2 (Inc 2) Program of Record and assists with:

  • Expediting the speed-to-decision of SUPPLOT analyst processes
  • Implementing design patterns for establishing and expanding a system’s ability to add new algorithms and analytic capabilities with minimal source code modification
  • Enhancing Operator capabilities for tailoring and exploiting analytics to meet current mission contextual needs
